In February, I had the pleasure of planning Janet and Daniel's charming South Carolina wedding. I knew this wedding was going to be beautiful, but I did not know the true magic that was going to be floating through the air this day.
Janet and Daniel held their ceremony at Boone Hall Plantation right under the Avenue of the Oaks. Janet fell in love with the Spanish moss draping off of the trees and the beautiful arches of the Oak trees. Before this wedding, I had never been to Boone Hall...and let me tell you, I verbally gasped when I pulled down the long road up to the main house. One thing that was really important to Janet and Daniel was that everything was very minimal and not busy. Janet and Daniel are deaf and a lot of their guests coming to the wedding are also. They wanted to make sure there were no distractions so everyone could communicate effectively.
Janet and Daniel decided to have a first look...it was truly moving. When giving Daniel the final touching up and straightening of his bowtie, he said 'I cannot wait to see her, I already know she's going to be beautiful...' and when I walked down to Janet to give her the okay to go embrace her forever love, she said 'I can't believe we're finally here and I am walking to meet my husband!' (and yes, currently, I am crying while writing this!!) Time seemed to stand still as Janet was walking. All of the tourists that were still on the grounds, had all turned to watch and not a one didn't have a tear in their eye...even with all of this, Janet and Daniel were so in the moment with each other. In the last picture in this section, Daniel is signing 'beautiful' to Janet. *swoon!!!*
For the ceremony décor, we wanted to have something frame the altar where they would vow their love to one another and we went through a few options, but finally landed on these creamy gold lanterns (credits to Janice at Pretty Petals of Charleston). We even had some horses join us!
Each part of the ceremony was filled with personal touches of Janet and Daniel. They incorporated each of their favorite scriptures and even had a really fun paint ceremony! (I love that they now have an art piece for their home!) They shared their own vows with one another and I watching Daniel and Janet express their love for each other through their hands was amazing. It was so intimate.
I thought it couldn't get any magical than the ceremony, but I was surely mistaken. The reception was just a ball of fun and emotions. Janet surprised Daniel by signing their first dance to each other...half way through, Daniel couldn't help but to embrace her and kiss her. By this point, there wasn't a dry eye in the house (including myself!).
Continuing through the reception, there were lots of special moments. Daniel's sweet momma signed her song to him and Janet and her loving dad shared a few dips on the dance floor after.
By the time the speeches came, I didn't think I had anymore happy tears to give...but Janet's twin sister, Jennifer gave one of the most loving speeches I have ever heard. It ended with 'Janet, I was your ears, but you are my heart...and Daniel, now she's your heart...' NOT A DRY EYE! When Jennifer was giving her speech, I was standing in eyesight of her parents and the look in their eyes was so touching. One special thing about Janet and her sister that I relate to so much is that my own sister is deaf and when Jennifer spoke these words, it pulled at all of my heart strings. I want to thank Jennifer for giving me the words I could never put together. This is exactly how I feel about my sister, Laura. Your words, relationship, and love for your sister is so touching. Hands down, best Maid of Honor speech I've ever heard!
I could go on and on about this wedding, but I am going to let the beautiful pictures from Callie Lindsey speak for themselves!
