I woke up on December 19th with the calmest feeling I have ever felt. It was the morning of my own wedding. This day was two years in the making. Every decision was made with such thought and precision and it all unfolded before me. It was the most fulfilling feeling in the world to know that my wedding, my masterpiece, and everything I dreamed of having on my wedding day was happening.
My husband, Mark, and I decided on a long engagement. We wanted to really think about how we wanted our wedding day to feel like. We took our time to decide on all the textures and elements that would help that vision come to life. Our wedding was a labor of love for me. As a wedding planner, I knew this would be the only time I would get to put every detail I loved about a wedding in one and do it all my way and I took full advantage of that.
Mark and I started out by writing down three things we wanted to get out of our wedding. We decided that we wanted the wedding to be romantic, contain a lot of laughter, and be timeless. I kept those three details in mind with every decision made.
I had always wanted a winter wedding. I thought the vision of snow sprinkling down on the couple was the most romantic vision ever. Even though the ceremony and reception were going to be indoors, I wanted to bring the romantic vision along. As soon as I walked into The Hotel Morgan, I knew it was exactly what I wanted. The tall wood pillars that framed the room perfectly; the cascading lights that made you feel like you were under the stars; the floor to ceiling drapes and windows; the grand french doors that greeted you at the entrance of the ballroom; everything about it was absolutely perfect and I couldn't picture myself dancing the night away anywhere else. As soon as we picked the venue, everything else fell into place.
Thinking back on the day, there isn't at thing Mark or I would change. We had our best friends by our sides, our closest family and friends in the church pews, and all of our loved ones in heaven looking down on us and showering us with love and support.
